In its strive for excellence and its belief in the uniqueness and individuality of every child, MIS introduced in 2016 a visionary program into its educational system.
The special department in MIS provides quality education to its students who are educationally struggling and require special education services. Emphasis is placed on facilitating inclusion in the least restrictive environment to the fullest extent possible. Programs are assessed on an ongoing basis to ensure that students’ individual needs are met. A range of placement options is available in accordance with Individual Education Plans. These placements include:
• Regular Education with Supports and Services
• In-Class Support Resource.
• Pull-Out Support Resource.
The special department team evaluates and determines eligibility of students for special education and related services; coordinates the development and management of various aspects of the individualized educational programs; delivers related services such as individual and group counseling based on individual needs; and provides services to the general education programs regarding techniques, materials, and programs for students experiencing learning difficulties.
Our Special Services Staff is comprised of experts in their fields who are dedicated to developing education plans and delivering services vital to meeting each student’s needs. Our staff consists of a coordinator, speech Therapist, psychomotor therapist, psycho educational therapist and psychologist with other related services providers
Internal services: 1- Screening for all students to detect difficulties as soon as possible. 2- Support sessions in differents subjects according to the needs of each student. 3- Parents meetings. 4- Teachers-parent coordination and teacher-therapist coordination. 5- IEP (individualized educational program) to meet the students needs in different areas. 6-Parental guidance. 7- Psychomotor education sessions for KGs classes. 8- Teachers and staff training to be able to help in the integration of students with special needs in regular classrooms. 9- Assessment of new students. 10- Designing the accomodations and adaptations needed for testing of each student within the department. 11- Providing the supervision needed during testing time.
