Admission Requirements

 

Registration and place reservation for an academic year starts in the first week of February. All applicants seeking admission to Monsif International School (MIS) are required to submit the following documents:

 

A- The Lebanese official program leading to the Lebanese Baccalaureate:

  1. An official transcript of the past two years, indicating subjects studied and grades received
  2. A recommendation including last class completed, certified by the Lebanese Ministry of Education

  3. An entrance exam at MIS

Students coming from abroad are also required to submit the following additional documents:

  1. Lebanese equivalency of the last class completed, from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education

B- The High School Diploma Program

Applicants must have obtained prior to the time set for registration by MIS a "permission" from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education allowing them to pursue their education in a High School Program, exempted from Arabic. To obtain this "permission", applicants should submit to the above-mentioned committee the following documents, original plus a copy:

  1. For Lebanese students, evidence of having lived and studied outside Lebanon for not less than two uninterrupted years. This evidence normally consists of the student’s passport, the passport and work permit of father/guardian, proof of legal residence in a foreign country, and the official grades of two years of education plus a recommendation of last class completed. If the years of study are at the elementary level, then proof of legal residence and the school grades should be for three uninterrupted years plus a recommendation of last class completed.

  2. For applicants holding a foreign passport, the official grades of two years of education in addition to a recommendation of the last class completed and proof of legal residence from the Lebanese General Security must be submitted.

  3. All submitted documents should be certified by the Lebanese Embassy in the foreign country and by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

C-  The International Baccalaureate (Diploma Program) 

IB Diploma Program Admission at MIS 

MIS welcomes students of all nationalities, beliefs, and backgrounds who can apply during the first week of February from each year. We have always been devoted to serve customized learning for each student's needs to the highest standards possible. At MIS, admissions for the IBDP are based on the applicant's interest to benefit from the program and its academic opportunities offered.  Our IB program aims to create individuals who are curious and open-minded, hardworking and competent, strong communicators and keen to learn new skills. Students will also develop leadership and time management capabilities, which will guide them towards their future career paths. 

        i.            Admission Requirements to DP 1 for All Students including Old, New, and Returnees: 

IBDP placement decisions for all students are made depending on the following requirements:

 

  1. Students should have completed 10 successful years of schooling.
  2. Students should pass the admission tests in English and Mathematics.
  3. Students should show their willingness to commit to the subjects of the program in order to benefit from this experience and excel in their academic life.
  4. Students should complete an interview with MIS’ head of school, DP coordinator, or DP teacher.
  5. Grades and in-class performance are not the only basis of admission. Maturity and motivation as well as the awareness that significant, independent efforts are also configured into the admissions criteria to the IBDP. It is up to each student to fulfill these requirements that are assessed using recommendations from present school and in interviews before admission.

 

ii.           Admission Requirements to DP 2 for All Students including Old, New, and Returnees:

IBDP placement decisions for all students are made depending on the following requirements:

 

  1. Students should have completed the DP 1 successfully from an IBWS (IB World School).
  2. Students should successfully pass a qualifying exam. (Prepared at MIS).

 

Languages

  • Students who have exclusively a Lebanese nationality are required to take Arabic as Language A, and they can also take any other language as additional language A or as language B depending on their wants and the subject offerings at MIS.
